Types Of Alternative Cancer Treatments
In an effort to fight the cancerous monster that seems to be taking over your body, it’s helpful to consider different types of alternative cancer treatments that can be used alongside more traditional efforts. This can create a fully integrated health plan, with you feeling better and being cancer free as the end goal.
LyfeWell Integrative Healthcare is a wellness center in Johns Creek, GA, just a short drive northeast of Atlanta. Our goal is to provide alternative cancer therapies that complement traditional treatments. Whether you’re searching for pain relief or a way to increase your natural strength and appetite while going through other treatments, you can benefit from some of the alternative therapies at LyfeWell.
More About Our Therapies
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy is a stimulating experience. Cancer patients benefit from PEMF because the increased blood flow helps boost the natural strength of cells within the body. PEMF is a short therapy, about 20 minutes, during which the patient lies on a comfortable chaise lounge and receives bursts of electromagnetic therapy that awaken the body from the cellular level.
When cells are able to receive enough blood, they receive more nutrients. When a cell has the proper amount of nutrients, it is able to function in a healthy way. In opposition, a weak cell must constantly borrow energy from surrounding cells, thus pushing the problem throughout the body. This helps those who are sick or injured because it focuses on healing from the cellular foundation of the body instead of trying to mask it with other drugs or therapies that are more focused on a short-term solution.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is an alternative therapy for cancer because it can expedite the success of chemotherapy and radiotherapy as well as reduce the side effects felt by those traditional treatments. It works by increasing the amount of oxygen our bodies are exposed to, which helps expedite healing of damaged tissue. While HBOT has not been proven to act as a stand-alone treatment for cancer, it is a great additional therapy.
At LyfeWell, HBOT is a treatment that takes place inside a chamber. Many patients nap during this treatment and let their bodies reap the benefits of three times as much oxygen exposure than it is typically exposed to. The increased oxygen gives cells the energy and nutrients they need to thrive.
BONUS: LyfeWell combines PEMF and HBOT therapies in what we call E-HBOT, or enhanced-hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This means each patient starts with 20 minutes of PEMF to increase blood flow and then follows with 70 minutes of HBOT to give the body the oxygen and nutrients it needs to thrive and heal. This combination has the potential to alleviate pain caused by cancer or heal other injuries or ailments brought on by traditional therapies.
While LyfeWell offers a variety of additional therapies to comprise our integrative healthcare services, there are some that are more beneficial for cancer patients than others.
Needle-Free Acupuncture: Acupuncture, in general, has been helpful for some patients who have terrible side effects of chemotherapy, such as dizziness and vomiting. Needle-free acupuncture at LyfeWell helps alleviate these symptoms when done before and after traditional treatment.
Autoimmune Assessment: Cancer and autoimmune diseases are often associated together. Autoimmune diseases can cause a plethora of other problems or uncomfortable side effects, in addition to cancer itself. Therefore, a thorough autoimmune assessment can help bring awareness for other necessary treatments to avoid an autoimmune disease from causing additional pain and suffering.
Nutrition Counseling: Many cancer patients report a loss of appetite or a poor appetite during treatment. Our in-house nutrition counselors are experienced in creating specific diets that cater toward those suffering from cancer while also considering the lack of appetite. In order for the body to heal fully, it needs the vitamins and nutrients from a healthy diet. Therefore, even if you don’t feel like eating, our nutrition counselor can help you devise a good plan of attack against these cancerous bugs.
Functional Neuromuscular Therapy: Traditional massage provides incredible psychological benefits when healing from cancer. However, functional neuromuscular therapy takes massage to the next level and provides cancer patients with targeted therapy that helps you regain common bodily functions, such as walking and bending.
